Bio: Laura Jean Castelluzzo MSA, LAc, LMT, joined Andrea Schilling MAOM, LAc, LMT in practice at Acupuncture Works in October of 2015. Laura Jean Castelluzzo is a skilled acupuncturist, massage therapist and life coach. She graduated with a Master of Science in Acupuncture in April 2011, from the Finger Lakes School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at the New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, NY. In October of 2005, Laura Jean graduated from the New York Institute of Massage Therapy in Williamsville, NY. In 1994-1997 she attended Buffalo State College with a focus of fine arts in photography. Laura Jean deepened her path of wellness: body, mind and spirit, in 1997. At that point she surrounded herself with like-minded people who make wellness and spiritual growth a priority. Soon after she started practicing yoga and meditation. Laura Jean has extensive knowledge on nutrition and a healthy lifestyle through research, experience and study of Eastern dietary therapy. Beginning in 2001, Laura Jean dedicated herself to a path of wellness and spiritual growth. She has been a practicing life coach, spiritual speaker and teacher since 2003. For over nine years, she was in an ongoing spiritual development class with Native American Elder, Tahwehdahqui on the Tuscarora Nation. Organizing a wide range of wellness events, facilitating personal & spiritual development classes as well as running a wellness center in Buffalo, NY, Castelluzzo has demonstrated her leadership skills in many areas. Knowing the importance of learning she has also continued to increase her skills by attending leadership workshops and personal development courses through organizations such as LifeResults out of Rochester, NY. Laura Jean is a graduate of the following LifeResults courses: LifeResults Basic 2000, IPI (interpersonal intensive) 2002, and Leadershape 2009. Laura Jean built a massage practice and wellness centered community space at her previous business, Buffalo Wellness & Art Center. She opened “B’Well” in May 2006 and closed July 2011 after graduating from FLSAOM. From October 2012 through November 2015, Laura Jean practiced acupuncture, massage therapy and life coaching at Phoenix Rising Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. With a desire to focus more on acupuncture, Laura Jean sought out other opportunities until Andrea Schilling approached her about the position available at Acupuncture Works. Laura Jean is very excited about moving forward in her profession and serving the community in an acupuncture focused practice. Laura Jean loves her work. She is immensely passionate about acupuncture, a holistic approach to healing and empowering others to create peace, happiness and fulfillment in their lives. She feels fulfilled by improving the quality of life of others in many ways including decreasing their pain, increasing their energy level and improving the overall function of their body systems. Her commitment to patient care, success in healing and an overall positive experience of the patient is her mission in practice at Acupuncture Works. Laura Jean also has experience leading ceremonies such as weddings, memorial services, home blessings, sweat lodges, woman’s circles and talking stick circles. She has been highly involved in and a supporter of the performing arts as well. At the height of Castelluzzo’s massage practice, in 2007, she released a CD of original, uplifting, lyrical and instrumental music. The album, ‘Laura Jean, with special guest artists’, is called “Waking Up.” “Waking Up” received a favorable review in the Finger Lakes Times article titled “Music That Feels Good.” Laura Jean’s intention with this CD was to create another avenue for people to be edified, in this case with upbeat music and inspiring lyrics. Castelluzzo plays guitar, piano, hand drums and sings on the album. Her recent musical activity also includes improvisation. She has led music improv workshops and performed dance in several contact dance improvisational performances as well with a small focus on aerial dance, specifically trapeze. One of Laura Jean’s greatest accomplishments is the Wellness Weekend Festival which took place on August 10-12, 2012 and August 2-4, 2013, while on the board for the not-for-profit organization, Sanctuary at Crowfield Farm. The festival took place on Sanctuary’s Sundance field in Newark, NY. Laura Jean organized the weekends schedule of events, ran the festival and also led workshops, talks and performed improvisational dance during the festival in a performance that she co-produced.
